Parking Field 7N Reconstruction Project

The village began the reconstruction of Village Parking Field 7N (located opposite Village Hall between Stewart Avenue and Seventh Street), three weeks ago. Construction hours are between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. One section of the parking field will be closed at all times during the construction. The contractor has begun work in the center section of the field behind Key Food. The construction area is fenced and available for deliveries only. Customers are encouraged to continue to support these merchants and park outside of the construction areas within the field or on Seventh Street.

Forecasts of heavy rain and high winds for yesterday and today have caused the contractor to suspend paving in the field until Monday, Oct. 18. Weather permitting, the paving should be completed on Monday, Oct. 18 and the striping on Tuesday, Oct. 19. Phase I will be completed and Phase II will begin on Wednesday, Oct. 20, by closing off the westerly section of the parking lot.

The entire project is anticipated to take eight weeks to complete and the contractor and village will be working to maintain safety and minimal inconvenience.

Village Hall Blood Drive

The Long Island Blood Services in conjunction with the employees at Village Hall will be holding a blood drive on Wednesday, Oct. 20, from 1 to 7 p.m. in the second floor meeting room of the Fire Department Headquarters Building on Stewart Avenue. The need for blood has again reached a critical level so please consider donating.

For more information, or to schedule an appointment to donate blood, please contact the Human Resources Department at Village Hall (465-4170 or 465-4171).

Your donation will help to save over three lives.

The Chamber’s Street Fair on Seventh Street and Franklin Avenue is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. and will run through mid-afternoon. Seventh Street, between Franklin and Hilton Avenues, will be closed to all traffic from 7 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. For your convenience, please use the Hilton and Franklin Avenue entrances to Parking Field 7S and the Stewart Avenue entrances to Parking Field 7N. The High School’s Homecoming Parade will step off promptly at 12:15 p.m. from the most easterly end of Seventh Street and proceed west along Seventh Street to Cathedral Avenue, north onto Stewart Avenue, west to Oxford Boulevard and north to the High School parking field. The Homecoming festivities and football game will follow the Parade at the Warren King Field.
