Juneteenth Celebration

On Saturday, June 15, the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Central Nassau (UUCCN) invites folkies/history educators Kim and Reggie Harris to host the UUCCN’s Annual Juneteenth Celebration starting at 6 p.m. From its Galveston, TX origin in 1865, the observance of June 19 as the African American Emancipation Day has spread across the United States and beyond. Juneteenth is a time for reflecting and rejoicing. Emancipation triggered a series of far-reaching events that continue to reverberate over the decades to the present. The UUCCN will follow the route of the Civil Rights Movement as it celebrates a pilgrimage of freedom and hope that continues today. Tickets are $20 for adult and $13 for children under 12. Family discounts are available and checks should be made payable to UUCCN and sent to: UU Congregation of Central Nassau, 223 Stewart Avenue, (corner of Nassau Blvd.), Garden City, NY 11530. Dinner cannot be guaranteed without advance purchase. For more information, please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
