The 54th annual Easter Sunday Vintage Car Parade will step off April 12 at 1 p.m. from Tenth Street on Franklin Avenue. The procession, led by a line of spectacular antique and classic cars, the Kiwanis Easter Bunnies and Kingsley Bear, will head south on Franklin Avenue, then west on Seventh Street where it will disperse at Hilton Avenue.
Spectators are invited to view the cars as they line up in parking field 9E between Ninth and Tenth Streets from 10 a.m. until 12:30. Adding to the fun will be the Town of Hempstead's Showmobile, musical MC Jim Rheel along with entertainment by his renowned Banjo Rascals and the Kiwanis Easter Bunnies with lollypops for the youngsters. Both the Easter Bunnies and the Banjo Rascals will return on Seventh Street during the parade where the Rascals will also be strummin' out their toe-tappin' tunes in front of Garden City Properties at 171 Seventh Street. An added attraction this year will be a team of characters promoting Kooza by Cirque du Soleil, which opens at Randall's Island, New York City, April 16. Spectators may pose for a photo with the Kooza crew in full costume and be entered to win tickets to Kooza and a trip to Las Vegas.
