Due to the extraordinary cold we are experiencing in our area, Hubbell's Pond, located on the grounds of the Garden City Men's Club, has frozen. Due to the generosity of the Club, the Recreation Department is offering skating on the pond under the following conditions:
• Conditions change by the day. The pond will be evaluated daily for safety and thickness. The Recreation Department will decide by 1 p.m. each day as to whether conditions will allow skating. Anyone interested may call our office at 465-4075 between 2 and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday or St Paul's at 742-4905 on the weekends for daily updates.
• No one is allowed to park in the Club's parking lot. Participants can park at Garden City Middle School or St. Paul's and walk across to the gate open on Stewart Avenue.
• Skating, if conditions are favorable, is only allowed during the following hours:
Monday through Friday 2 to 8 p.m.
Saturday 10 to 8 p.m.
Sunday 10 to 6 p.m.
• Although hockey will be allowed, it will only be played in designated areas. If these areas are filled, or if the attendants on duty feel that the ice is too crowded, hockey will be suspended.
Remember - a red sign on the skating shack signifies skating for the day!
