The January Electors' Meeting of the Property Owners' Association of Garden City Estates will be held Tuesday, Jan. 20 at 8 p.m. in the Stratford School Auditorium.
The Nominating Committee of Garden City Estates has met and will place into nomination Robert Rothschild for village mayor, a two-year term, ending March, 2011.
All Estates residents are invited to attend this Electors' meeting to vote in support of this nomination. After the vote, Rothschild will become the Estates section's candidate, will be endorsed by the other sections and goes on the Community Agreement Party slate for village-wide election in March.
Under the Unified Procedure of the Community Agreement, the procedure used by all four associations, other candidates for nomination may be presented in writing at, or before, the Jan. 20 meeting, by a petition signed by 15 residents residing in the Estates section. If presented before the meeting, the petition must be received by the secretary of the Property Owners' Association of Garden City Estates (Mike Holland, 126 Meadbrook Road).
If other candidates for nomination are made at, or before, this Electors' meeting, a special meeting is held two weeks later (Tuesday, Feb. 3). At this special meeting, a runoff election is held whereby all Estates residents may vote. The person with the majority of votes becomes the Estates section's candidate, and is endorsed by the other sections and goes on the Community Agreement Party slate for village-wide election in March.
