You may have seen several soccer players walking barefoot off the fields of St. Paul's after Soccer Fest. Well, it was not the record setting temperatures, but rather, the record setting generosity of friends and neighbors in Garden City who donated over 150 pairs of "gently-used" cleats to the cleat drive.

Girls U-11 POWER sponsored the drive to help supply cleats to many kids who want to play soccer, but just don't have the means to afford the basic equipment to do so. In blazing heat, the girls and their families worked tirelessly to clean, size and bag the cleats and get them ready to pass on. What a great experience and lesson in teamwork.

POWER is "Xtremely" grateful to the U11 Xtreme girls and families, especially the Tierneys, Holfesters and Miesemers and Jenna Codignotto, who volunteered at the tent while the POWER girls played their soccer game. Thanks to trainer Donny Schreier and Mrs. Kenny, Mrs. Biscardi and Mrs. Fisher for pulling this all together and thanks to all the residents who made the effort to make a difference in the lives of others!
