(Editor's Note: This letter was originally sent to Mayor Peter Bee and the entire board of trustees. It is being printed here at the author's request.)
This is a formal request to remove Deputy Mayor Mauk from the board of trustees. He is in violation of the Garden City Village Code of Conduct.
His treatment of resident Arnold Finnamore was despicable. He has no standing as a trustee to call a resident back to the podium and harangue him or castigate him like a school child. His bullying tactics are well documented at board meetings and the Estates Property Owners' Association meetings.
Finally, his yelling out burst at the end of the meeting directed at you, my mayor, was reprehensible. He is out of control and needs to be impeached, recalled or voluntarily resign.
I am demanding that this request be addressed formally by you, counsel and the newly formed Code of Ethics Committee. The people have no confidence in your board and after tonight we are afraid to speak at the podium or sit in the audience.
Will the deputy mayor throw a chair next, as he threw his papers forcefully in the garbage can and begged like a spoiled child for you to take his side and not Second Deputy Mayor Lamberti's.
He has diminished our government and our village and I respectfully and officially ask for his recall/removal as a trustee of the Village of Garden City.
