After a hot three-game set in Asheville, NC, that gave him the team's highest batting average on the season, Brown freshman catcher Matt Colantonio of Garden City was named Ivy League Rookie of the Week. In three games, the rookie backstop went 7-for-13 with two walks, driving in six runs and scoring two more as the Bears went 2-1.

Colantonio had three hits in each of Brown's weekend wins, driving in four runs in a 25-9 win over Hartford on Saturday, then driving in two more in a 13-12 win over UNC Asheville on Sunday. He caught all but two innings of the three games, which averaged about three hours and five minutes in length, playing errorless ball.

Including Monday's and Tuesday's games, Colantonio leads the Bears with a .462 batting average and a .543 on-base percentage. On the team's current road trip, he is hitting .579 (11-for-19) with a .619 on-base percentage, driving in six and scoring three runs.
