Starting with the fall 2007 season, the GC Centennial Soccer Club began outfitting intramural players in Grades 2-12 with uniforms as opposed to the cotton or silk shirts. These uniforms are reversible and can be worn for multiple seasons. These uniforms are subsidized by the Centennial Soccer Club, therefore, the cost per uniform is $20. Most girls have already picked up their uniform.

Boys in Grades 2-12 who are enrolled in the Centennial Soccer program for the spring 2008 season will need to pick up their uniform prior to the start of the season (April 5). Girls in grades 2-12 who are new to the program will also need to do the same. To help facilitate your uniform pickup, the Centennials will hold the remaining uniform distribution nights at St. Paul's Cluett Hall in Garden City between the hours of 7 and 9 p.m. on Thursday, April 3.

Bring your child so they can be sized correctly and a check or cash for $20 (sorry no credit cards) for each uniform that you will need. Even though you will probably not hear from your coach until the first week of April, you are encouraged to get to one of these Thursday sessions. If that is not possible, you may also be able to pick up your child's uniform from Sportsloft in New Hyde Park (1105 Jericho Turnpike) although there may be a wait of up to an hour at the store.

The Garden City Centennial Soccer Club will be opening its spring season Saturday, April 5. Girls play 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. and boys play from 1 to 5 p.m. The program runs for eight consecutive Saturdays with the exception of April 19 and May 24 (Memorial Day weekend). The season ends June 7 with Soccerfest.

The program is open to girls in pre-k through grade 12 and boys in pre-K through grade 6. The registration deadline was Jan. 31.

For more information, to register or to view a full schedule, visit www.gccentennialsoccer.org. You now have the option of registering for an entire year. This option is open in both the boys and girls intramural program.

The Centennials will be sponsoring soccer clinics for girls in grades 2 through 9 and boys in Grades 2 through 6 who are registered in the spring program. The clinic program is presenting the opportunity to those children who would like to have some fun, enhance their skills and play more soccer.

These clinics are interchangeable and children can attend multiple clinics. Therefore if a child in Grade 2 cannot make the Tuesday clinic they can attend the grade 2 clinic on Thursday. If a child in grade 2 or 3 would like to attend both clinic days (Tuesday and Thursday) they are welcome to do that. The same holds true for children in the older age groups.

Location: St. Paul's Field A

We are accepting applications from girls in Grades 9-12 to participate in an intramural inter-league soccer program. Details as follows...

Teams will be registered with Suffolk Inter-league, the largest intramural inter-league soccer program on Long Island with 47 clubs and over 350 teams playing. The girls will play intramural teams from other towns, predominantly from Suffolk County, who are at the same competitive levels but without the commitment of the travel program.

Some travel to Suffolk County will be required but some games will be played in Garden City. Spring season will be eight to nine games from mid-March until early June and most games will be played on Sundays.

Registration was due Jan. 31. Thereafter, registration will be accepted based on space and availability and is subject to a $25 late fee.

To register, visit www.gccentennialsoccer.org and click on the online intramural registration link. All girls in grades 9-12 will automatically be included in this program. Email Joe Cella at cellajoe@aol.com with questions.

Past Garden City Centennial soccer referees who have passed the Centennial training course are asked to contact Sandy Young at sandramyoung@msn.com if interested in reffing soccer in the spring. In order to ref, you must be available on Saturdays between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. Please contact Young in order to be put on the reffing list.

New this season is the Centennial Soccer Club's offering of a developmental program for all division 2 and 3 intramural players (second- and third-graders). This program caters to children who wish to further develop their soccer skills in preparation for travel soccer. Participants will have two advanced training sessions per week at St. Paul's with Rising Stars Soccer Academy (Rocco Morelli and staff). The participants will also compete in two inter-league tournaments over Memorial Day and Father's Day weekends and possibly scrimmage other developmental teams.

The cost for the program will be approximately $300 per player per season, which will cover the cost for the training and tournaments. Training sessions will be help on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 6 to 7 p.m. at St. Paul's fields on the following dates: April 29 and 30, May 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, 21, 27 and 28 and June 3, 4, 10 and 11.

This program will be in addition to your child's regular intramural games and practices and requires a strong commitment. This program is for those players/parents who are interested in a higher level of skill training and competition for development. While this is great preparation for travel soccer, this program is not a pre-requisite for travel and does not assure your child's placement on a travel team.

If interested, email dev@centennialsoccer.org or call Adriano Cammarata at 646-7349018 by March 31. Your child must be a registered intramural player to participate.
