The recreation department is offering preschool arts and crafts for children ages 3.5 to 5 years old whot live in Garden City. Each class is 45 minutes long and runs for a six-week session. Grace Chianese will head this program and offer fun and creative crafts for the children. The cost of this six-week program will be $30 and will run according to the following schedule:
Wednesdays at 12:15 p.m. in St. Paul's Cluett Hall

The Garden City Recreation Department is pleased to announce that this winter, Rich Anderson and the recreation staff will conduct a gym program for children in kindergarten through grade 2.
This program will consist of organized games and activities in a supervised setting. This program runs on Tuesdays from 3:30 to 4:45 p.m. in St. Paul's Field House now through Feb. 12. The program is free and no registration is necessary. Sneakers must be worn for any activity in the Field House. Once the children are in the facility, they will not be allowed to leave unless accompanied by an adult. Please come into the building to pick up your child.

The recreation department offers adult tennis lessons in a 12-week session. The lessons are open to all adults who are residents of Garden City and are offered at various times during the day and on weekends.
If you are interested in lessons for the upcoming winter season, which begins Jan. 13, pick up an adult tennis interest form and return it to the recreation office in village hall no later than Dec. 28. Classes will be put together according to ability and day desired on a first-come, first-served basis. You will be contacted by tennis pro Carrie Strum to confirm your class.
The cost of this 12-week, one-hour program will be $239. Payment must accompany the interest form. Please make checks payable to "Inc. Village of Garden City."
Adult Ultimate Tennis Workout - This one-and-a-half-hour workout is for experienced tennis players who wants to hone their skills. It is held on Saturdays from 10 to 11:30 a.m. This program will be offered in 10-week sessions with a start date of Jan. 19. The cost of the session is $200.
Our winter session of yoga will begin the week of Jan. 28. Connie McKnight, certified yoga instructor, has designed classes with all ages in mind. Each 12-week course will cost $60 and each class is 55 minutes long. All classes are held in Cluett Hall at St. Paul's. Any resident of the Village of Garden City is invited to join these relaxing classes. The course schedule is as follows:
Mondays: all-level yoga at 7:30 p.m.
Thursdays: all-level yoga at 11:30 a.m.

The recreation department's adult swim program has begun at Adelphi's indoor pool located in Woodruff Hall. This free program is open to any adult resident of Garden City age 18 or older. The program is open to residents for lap swimming on Mondays through Thursdays in one-hour time blocks at 7:30 p.m., 8:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.
Anyone interested in this program must sign up through the recreation office. You must register each day you would like to swim by calling the recreation office at 465-4075. No reservations will be taken ahead of time and space is limited.
The recreation department's aerobic classes are just the thing to get your heart pumping and your body moving. Experienced aerobic instructors teach the classes and try to tailor their program to the level of the participants. Classes are offered at Cluett Hall in St. Paul's according to the following schedule:
Monday at 8 a.m.
Wednesday at 8 a.m.
Thursday at 8 a.m.
Thursday at 7 p.m.
Sunday at 9 a.m.
Classes are approximately one hour and 15 minutes. There is no pre-registration for these classes. It costs $4 per class if you "pay as you go" or you can buy a 20-class pass for $60. The recreation department is sponsoring a chess club for children in Grades 3-6. This free program will run on Saturdays from noon to 2 p.m. in the Garden City Library's Small meeting room. The program begins Jan. 12 and will run through March. Players at all levels of experience are invited to attend.

On Sunday afternoons the St. Paul's Field House is open for Family Fun for village families. This open time provides the opportunity for families to enjoy various gym activities in an indoor environment. The gym will be available for use from noon to 3:30 p.m. each Sunday until March.
This time is designated for residents to use on a family or individual basis. No organized practices or workouts will be allowed. Although there will be staff to monitor activity, this is not a drop-off program. Recreation staff asks that elementary aged children be accompanied by an adult. For the safety of users, no lacrosse or baseball will be allowed.
