KeySpan to Reveal Proposed Cleanup of Spawned Groundwater Plume
When news broke last spring that a former Village of Hempstead gas plant spawned a groundwater plume, nearby Garden City residents became angered at state officials for failing to alert them of the incident and became wary of the safety of their drinking water.

Board Grants Cherry Valley Fields Lease a One-Year Extension
Garden City trustees Nov. 8 granted a one-year lease extension with the Town of Hempstead to enable the Garden City South Little League continued use of the Garden City-owned Cherry Valley ball fields despite pleas from Garden City baseball program officials who said their growing Little League and travel programs are in dire need of those fields in order to accommodate the village's young players.

GCAA, Centennials Coach Earns Sportsmanship Award
The New York Metro Intercollegiate Soccer Officials Association (NYMISOA) was founded 43 years ago in 1964. The chapter membership includes 90 intercollegiate soccer officials in the New York City boroughs of Manhattan, Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn and Staten Island plus Nassau, Suffolk and Westchester counties.

Garden City Recreation Department News
The recreation department offers adult tennis lessons in a 12-week session. The lessons are open to all adults who are residents of Garden City and are offered at various times during the day and on weekends.
