On Nov. 18, the Holy Spirit/St. Anne's Harriers competed in the Northeast/ Mid-Atlantic Junior Olympic Regional Championships. The race was an extremely competitive 3000 meter cross country run over the hills and bumpy terrain of Sunken Meadow State Park. There was tough competition from teams representing New England, Connecticut and Maine, as well as the Metropolitan, Adirondack and Long Island regions.

Laurel Fisher (8th place) and Jennifer Gerland (12th place) qualified for the Junior Olympic National Championship to be held in Lawrence, Kansas Dec. 8.

The rest of the team also did very well, bettering their times from the qualifying race held at Sunken Meadow two weeks earlier. Considering this was the Harriers' first year of competitive running, the team should take great pride in their accomplishment.

Congratulations for a job well done to everyone on the team: Jennifer and Stephanie Gerland, Laurel Fisher, Grace Murolo, Colleen Cass, Jessica Greblunas, James Searson, Bradley Stewart, John Paul Welch, Tim Josephs and Will Mennicken. Also, congrats to Bridget Woods and Elisabeth Schuler who could not compete due to injuries.
