Nassau County Arson/Bomb Squad detectives are investigating a fire that occurred in Garden City South, Saturday, Nov. 24, at 10:11 p.m.

Detectives report that the Franklin Square-Munson Fire Department, with Chief Ressner in charge, responded to a fire at Georgia's Tailor Shop, which is located at 259 Nassau Boulevard, and extinguished the fire. The fire started in the basement, according to police reports, and caused minor smoke damage to the shop and adjacent stores.

Nassau County Fire Marshal Maickel and Arson/Bomb Squad Detective Lawrence Meisner responded and are currently investigating. Town of Hempstead Code Enforcement Officer Gunther also responded to board up and secure the business, which was not open at the time of the fire.

Officials are deeming the fire suspicious at this time, according to detectives.
