The community of Garden City is bursting with pride as the girls U-11 Lions soccer team was presented with a 2007 Sportsmanship Award from the Long Island Junior Soccer League (LIJSL).

The Long Island Junior Soccer League's Sportsmanship Committee recognized the team for its outstanding sportsmanship at the annual LIJSL Sportsmanship Awards celebration sponsored by Modell's.

Of the over 1,500 teams in the league, they were ranked as the best in the sportsmanship category for their division. The LIJSL is proud of the fact that their program offers the opportunity to develop the athletic ability of children and to cultivate a program of "Building Character through Soccer."
