The Tufts field hockey team earned its best-ever finish in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) with victories at Wesleyan and Williams thanks to the efforts of Amanda Russo. Russo, a sophomore at Tufts and a Garden City High School Class of 2006 graduate, scored goals in both games, with one being a game winner, and was honored as NESCAC Player of the Week.
With three goals in her last four games, Amanda is developing into another weapon for a Tufts offense that has scored 32 goals in 12 games. She played in nine games as a freshman last fall, and has worked her way into the starting line-up this season.
Tufts plays in NESCAC, the nation's most competitive small college conference academically and athletically. The conference is composed of highly selective liberal arts colleges and universities that share an academics-first philosophy for intercollegiate athletics.
