On Saturday, Oct. 20, between 3-5 p.m. at Stewart Avenue Field, the Garden City Sharks will hold tryouts for seventh and eighth grade students currently attending school in Garden City.
The 2008 season will include two scrimmages and at least seven Sunday games in the USMMA eighth grade tri-state league, now in its fifth season. The Sharks have hired current Jr. Lizard's and CW Post Assistant Lacrosse Coach Vincent Della Speranza as head coach for the 2008 eighth grade Shark team.
The Sharks team practices and games will not conflict with any Garden City Middle School lacrosse program or any summer travel lacrosse teams.
Practices will start in mid-March on weekends and league play will conclude no later than June 1. No games will be scheduled April 20 or May 25.
The cost per player will be approximately $250 to cover coaches and league fees. Uniforms and apparel will be extra. No money is made from this program.
