Come join the recreation department this Friday, Sept. 14, at noon for a lunchtime concert on Seventh Street. The Cluster will entertain with the great sounds of today and yesterday. The concert will take place in the plaza in front of Chico's and You-nique Bow-tique. Bring a lunch and enjoy the music.

The fall session of yoga began this week. Connie McKnight, certified yoga instructor, has designed classes with all ages in mind. Each 12-week course costs $60 and each class is 55 minutes long. All classes are held in Cluett Hall at St. Paul's. Any resident of Garden City is invited to join these relaxing classes. The course schedule is as follows:

The recreation department is pleased to announce its 2007-08 schedule of classes for its Dance Conservatory, directed by Felicia Lovaglio. Please note this is only a schedule and registration has not started. Classes are offered for students ages 3.5 to 18. A registering child must be the appropriate age by the start of the class in order to attend.

The Garden City Recreation Department is pleased to announce that registration has begun by mail only for the 2007-08 indoor tennis programs for children at Community Park's tennis center. Classes begin the week of Sept. 24. Please make selections carefully as fees are not returnable. To register by mail only - no walk-in registrations will be accepted until Sept. 17: pick up an application at the recreation office in village hall or make your own by listing your child's name, address, phone number, birth date, grade he/she will be entering this month and the session and classes for which you are registering. List a first and second choice. Mail all information with full payment to the Garden City Recreation Department at 351 Stewart Avenue. Make all checks payable to the "Inc. Village of Garden City." This tennis program is for children ages 9 and up who are ready to take their tennis skills to the next level by playing intramural matches in a minimally supervised, fun environment. A child must be able to serve from the baseline, sustain a slow paced rally, keep score and have a general understanding of the rules of tennis; Screening for this program will be held Sunday, Sept. 30, at 2 p.m. You must register for this screening. The cost of the 10-week program is $160. This tennis program is a tryout program for advanced players ages 9-18 who want to play competitive tennis in a team format. Interclub play, lessons and practice time are offered in this program. A tryout is mandatory for this program since there is a limited number of participants. Tryout dates are Sept. 22 and 23.
