Community Park's new mini golf course is now open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. each day. Improvements to the area have created a spectacular course sure to please any mini golf devotee. Rates for the course are as follows:

Residents under 12/residents 65 or older: $3

Residents 12 or older: $5

Non-resident under 12: $4

Non-resident 12 or older: $6

Please note that until construction is finished in the area, monies will be collected at the tennis hut located just north of the tennis facility. You will then be given a ticket to turn in to the attendant at the mini golf area.

The recreation department will sponsor its summer chess club at the Garden City Library until Aug. 21 in the library's lower level meeting room. Any resident in Grades 3-8 is invited to attend this free program. Paul Dooher will again moderate the club. The park programs are in full swing and open to children ages 6-14. The parks directors, Rich, Kristian, Greg, Anthony, Brad and Ryan, have planned games, field days and trips for residents of the village to enjoy. There is also "make and take it" arts and crafts for ages 6-12 in each park at 10 a.m. Visit the parks and join in the fun. The recreation department has reserved tickets on consignment for some of the best amusement parks in the area. These tickets can be purchased at any time this summer in the recreation office in village hall and are good for any time this season. Cash or check will be accepted. The very popular stretch class for adults is being offered from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. every Tuesday and Thursday. The cost of this six-week program is $48. To register, visit the recreation office in village hall.

The Garden City Recreation Department is pleased to announce their 2007 Summer Gazebo Concert Series. All concerts are held on Thursday evenings beginning at 7:15 p.m. at the gazebo on the corner of Stewart and Hilton avenues. Please bring a lawn chair and enjoy the evening. In case of bad weather, the concert would be moved into Cluett Hall.

The recreation department is offering a summer Roller Hockey Camp at Community Park's Roller Hockey Rinks. The camp will be a combination of skill-driven activities and pick up games. This camp is open to any village resident 5-10 years old.

The week of camp will be as follows:

Monday, Aug. 13 - Thursday, Aug. 16

Ages 5-8: 8:30 to 10 a.m.

Ages 9-10: 10:30 a.m. to noon

The cost of this camp is $60. Please make all checks payable to the "Inc. Village of Garden City." Visit the recreation office in village hall to register.
