Garden City firefighters responded to a Wyatt Road house fire Aug. 1 at 8:02 p.m. According to reports, the fire started in the kitchen and had vented from the two first floor windows before firefighters were on scene.

The public will have an opportunity to speak for or against a Verizon cable television franchise agreement in Garden City during a scheduled public hearing Thursday, Aug. 16, at 8 p.m. Some residents have already voiced their approval of such a franchise in letters to the board, saying they welcome and deserve a choice of cable TV.
