The recreation department has reserved tickets on consignment for some of the best amusement parks in the area. These tickets can be purchased at any time this summer in the recreation office in village hall and are good for any time this season. Cash or check will be accepted. The very popular stretch class for adults, led by Dance Conservatory Director Felicia Lovaglio, began Monday, July 9, at 9:15 a.m. in Cluett Hall. This hour long class will run for six weeks and help you stretch and tone your body through dance movements. Any resident age 15 and older is invited to join. The cost is $48. The Garden City Recreation Department is pleased to announce their 2007 Summer Gazebo Concert Series. All concerts are held on Thursday evenings beginning at 7:15 p.m. at the Gazebo on the corner of Stewart and Hilton Avenues. Please bring a lawn chair and enjoy the evening. In case of bad weather, the concert would be moved into Cluett Hall.

Community Park's new mini golf course is now open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. each day. Improvements to the area have created a spectacular course sure to please any mini golf devotee. Rates for the course are as follows:
Residents under 12/residents 65 or older: $3
Residents 12 or older: $5
Non-resident under 12: $4
Non-resident 12 or older: $6
Please note that until construction is finished in the area, monies will be collected at the tennis hut located just north of the tennis facility. You will then be given a ticket to turn in to the attendant at the mini golf area.
The summer session of yoga began this week. Connie McKnight, certified yoga instructor, has designed classes with ages in mind. Each 12-week course costs $60 and each class is 55 minutes long. All classes are held in Cluett Hall at St. Paul's. Any resident of Garden City is invited to join these relaxing classes.
The course schedule is as follows: Mondays at 7:30 p.m. and Thursdays at 11:30 a.m. To register for any of these classes, visit the recreation office in village hall.

The recreation department will conduct a preschool camp for girls and boys 3 1/2 to 5 years old. Children who attend this camp must be 3 1/2 years by the start of the season. This camp will be held at the St. Paul's Cluett Hall from 10:30 a.m. to noon. The cost of each session is $75. Arts and crafts, music, nature and stories will fill the one-and-one-half-hour class. These sessions are as follows:

Session II: July 16 through July 20
Session III: July 23 through July 27
Session IV: July 30 through Aug. 3
Session V: Aug. 6 through Aug. 10

The recreation department will offer a lacrosse camp for boys and girls entering grades 3-6 in September. The program will teach participants stick handling, catching, scooping and the fundamentals of the game. The children will also play games in a structured setting. No previous lacrosse experience is necessary. Wally Cook, a certified lacrosse referee and coach, will conduct the program on the fields at Stewart Field. The camp will run from 9:30 a.m. to noon each day. This camp will be held during the following week:

There are limited openings available in the half-day soccer camp the weeks of July 30 and Aug. 6. The full -day camp is now filled. There are still openings in the summer baseball camp for 9-11 year olds. This camp will take place at Community Park the weeks of July 16 and July 23 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Please visit the recreation office in village hall for further details.
The recreation department is offering a summer Roller Hockey Camp at Community Park's Roller Hockey Rinks. The camp will be a combination of skill-driven activities and pick up games. This camp is open to any village resident 5-10 years old.
The week of camp will be as follows:
Monday, Aug. 13 - Thursday, Aug. 16
Ages 5-8: 8:30 to 10 a.m.
Ages 9-10: 10:30 a.m. to noon
The cost of this camp is $60. Please make all checks payable to the "Inc. Village of Garden City." Visit the recreation office in village hall to register.
The recreation department is offering a Summer Roller Hockey Program for residents ages 11-14 and adults ages 30 and over. This program consists of pickup games and will be held at the Community Park Hockey Rinks. The six-week schedule is as follows:
Ages 11-14: Mondays at 7 p.m. beginning July 9
Adults (30 and over): Wednesdays at 7 p.m. beginning July 11
The cost to join this program is $25. The participant must provide all equipment. Space is limited so please register early. To register, visit the recreation office in village hall.
If you reside in Garden City, are 18 and older and would like to play softball in one of the recreation department's softball leagues, call 465-4075 to put your name on the player list. The department sometimes has coaches who are looking for extra players to round out their rosters. Call and leave your name, age, address and phone number and the department will keep your information on file for the team that is looking for players.
