Stepping away from jobs as secret service agents, airline pilots and landscapers more than 350 reserve Marines, sailors, airmen and soldiers arrived in Senegal, Africa June 16 to conduct military exercises and come face-to-face with the people of Senegal through various humanitarian assistance projects during exercise Shared Accord 07.

The Assembly Republican Sex Offender Watch Task Force held the second in a series of meetings last week at the Merrick Public Library. The task force will travel throughout the state, seeking solutions to the problems that exist when sex offenders move into communities.

Garden City Bombers to Take on Dominican Republic Team
The Garden City Bombers 18-year-old baseball team is now set to play against the national Dominican Republic team Wednesday, July 11, at Estadio Quisqueya in Santo Domingo. An All-Star Domincan team has been assembled for the Caribbean high school tournament, with teams from Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands also participating. Estadio Quisqueya holds 14,000 people and is managed by the Dominican Baseball Authority.
