A Holtsville man is under arrest after he allegedly placed an ad on the Internet on Craig's List looking for females to exchange drugs for sex acts. According to detectives, Henry Groppe, Jr., placed the ad approximately two weeks ago. An undercover Garden City police officer posing as a 16-year-old female answered the ad and after exchanging emails and text messages the defendant arranged to meet the person he thought was a 16-year-old female and her 15-year-old female friend in Garden City to exchange cocaine for a variety of sex acts.

When the defendant arrived at a Garden City parking lot for the meeting, Garden City police arrested him without incident June 9 at 10:45 p.m. After the arrest and a subsequent search, the defendant was found to be in possession of two plastic bags containing a substance believed to be cocaine.

Groppe was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, two counts of endangering the welfare of a minor and patronizing a prostitute. He was slated for arraignment in First District Court June 10.
