As the officers arrived, they observed a 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix leave at a high rate of speed. The officers attempted to pull the vehicle over and the driver refused to comply but continued to drive in a reckless manner at excessive speeds. The officers were able to stop the vehicle at Nassau Boulevard and Bell Street in West Hempstead.
As Police Officer Reilly attempted to remove the driver from the auto, the driver allegedly reversed the auto and attempted to speed off with the officer clinging to the vehicle. The passenger, police state, was punching the officer during this time. The vehicle came to a stop and both officers, according to their report, were able to subdue the driver even though he continued to kick and punch them. The passenger then exited the auto, clutching a blue bag and began punching the officers in an attempt to free the driver, police state.
Both subjects were then placed under arrest with help from assisting officers. The driver was identified as Jozef Bez, 53, of Brooklyn and the passenger, Ruza Hak, 47, also of Brooklyn.
