A 21-year-old Garden City woman who had just finished shopping at Roosevelt Field Mall May 29 was startled in her vehicle when a man approached her while she tried to put her seatbelt on. He approached the vehicle, Nassau County Third Squad Detective/Sergeant Daub said, and demanded money.

When the woman refused, the subject reached into the car with his hand and cut the woman on her arm with an unknown type of weapon and fled the scene.
The victim, who fought back and called police, was taken to Winthrop-University Hospital for a deep laceration to the arm. She was treated at the hospital and released shortly thereafter.
The assailant is described as a male Hispanic, approximately 30 years old with an olive complexion, dark hair and wearing a white T-shirt. Police urge anyone with any information regarding this attempted robbery to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
