The recreation department's adult evening programs in the Field House will end the week of May 21 and begin again in July. Please watch this column for further information about the summer schedule.
The following is a list of the recreation summer camp schedule. Registration for these programs will be announced in the upcoming weeks. Please watch this column for further information on how to register for each camp. All camps are open to any Garden City resident as long as they fall within the age guidelines:

The recreation department will conduct a Pre-School Camp for girls and boys 3 1/2 to 5 years old. Children who attend this camp must be 3 1/2 years by the start of the season. This camp will be held at the St. Paul's Cluett Hall from 10:30 a.m. to noon. The cost of each session is $75. Arts and crafts, music, nature and stories will fill the one and one half-hour class. These sessions are as follows:
Session 1: July 9 through July 13
Session II: July 16 through July 20
Session III: July 23 through July 27
Session IV: July 30 through Aug. 3
Session V: Aug. 6 through Aug. 10

You can also make your own by listing your child's name, address, phone number, birth date, grade he/she will be entering in September and the session and classes for which you are registering. The recreation department will conduct a Summer Field Hockey Camp for girls entering grades 4 through 7. The camp will be held Monday through Thursday July 16 through July 19 on the soccer field at Community Park. The session will be from 9:30 a.m. to noon. The camp will focus on individual skill development and the rules of the game as well as the importance of playing together as a team. Equipment will be supplied. The cost of this program will be $75.

The recreation department is offering a summer Roller Hockey Camp at Community Park's Roller Hockey Rinks. The camp will be a combination of skill driven activities and pick up games. This camp is open to any village resident 5-10 years old. All participants are required to supply their own equipment.

The recreation department is offering a Summer Roller Hockey Program for residents ages 11-14 and adults ages 30 and over. This program consists of pickup games and will be held at the Community Park Hockey Rinks. The six-week schedule is as follows:
Ages 11-14: Mondays at 7 p.m. beginning July 9
Adults (30 and over): Wednesdays at 7 p.m. beginning July 11
The cost to join this program is $25. All equipment must be provided by the participant. Space is limited so please register early. To register, visit the recreation office in village hall.
The recreation department will once again compete in Pepsi's Pitch, Hit and Run competition. This free program will be held at 4 p.m. at Grove Park Wednesday, May 16. Rain date is May 17. The competition is open to residents ages 7-14. Pre-registration is necessary and can be done at the recreation office in village hall until 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 16. Call 465-4075 for more information.
If you reside in Garden City, are 18 and older and would like to play softball in one of the recreation department's softball leagues, call 465-4075 to put your name on the player list. The department sometimes has coaches who are looking for extra players to round out their rosters. Call and leave your name, age, address and phone number and the department will keep your information on file for the team who is looking for players.
The recreation department's adult swim time at Adelphi will end on Thursday, May 17. This program will begin again in September. For further information, call 465-4075.

Instructors are up-to-date on the latest moves to keep you interested while exercising. Pat and Joy have years of experience and can show individuals how to modify the exercises to their levels. To attend a single class, show up on the given day and pay $4. To attend regularly, 20 class passes can be purchased for $60, a savings of $1 per class.
