Garden City-based rock band Post Roman was recently announced as one of the winners of the 2007 MTVU/Fusion Campus Invasion Contest on MTVU.com. The band, along with three other unsigned acts, will be flown out to play the MTVU Campus Invasion Festival at The Backyard in Austin, Texas, April 22. This festival includes headlining acts such as The Shins, The Academy Is..., The Rapture and Shiny Toy Guns.

Founding members Daniel Hind, Nicholas LaRousse, Harrison Aidala and Daniel Hillier had their first practice in Aidala's Garden City basement in the summer of 2002. After a few years playing together under the name On The Run, the band became unhappy with their sound and their name and began looking to add a new member. It was in late 2005 that the band added lead singer Jack Tangney. This lineup finds the band at its strongest and most productive. Last summer they traveled out to the Killingsworth Recording Company in West Babylon, where they recorded and self-funded their first full-length record, titled This Canvas, A Vessel. The album has received some critical praise including a "9 out of 10" from wrankmusic.com.

After enrolling in college this past fall, the band signed up for MTVU's Best Music on Campus. This gave them the opportunity to opt into various contests that the website offers. After entering into a few contests that they did not win, the band was more than excited to find out that they would be playing their first out-of-state show in front of 5,000 people in Austin, Texas.

Dan Hillier plays drums; he lives in East Rockaway and went to Chaminade High School. He is currently in his junior year at Iona University. Jack Tangney is the lead vocalist; he lives in Rockville Centre and went to South Side High School. He is currently at Nassau Community College. Daniel Hind plays guitar and sings; he lives in Garden City and went to Regis High School. He is currently in his freshman year at Georgetown University. Harrison Aidala plays bass; he lives in Garden City and went to Garden City High School. He is currently in his freshman year at SUNY Oswego. Nicholas LaRousse plays guitar; he lives in Garden City and went to Kellenberg Memorial High School. He is currently in his freshman year at Adelphi University.

The band has been practicing and playing shows all over Long Island on weekends and breaks from college. They plan to spend the summer writing new songs and touring, bringing their music to as many people as possible. More information can be found at www.postroman.net and www.myspace.com/postroman.
