All Charges Dropped in Alleged Duke Rape Scandal
After a year of accusations, court proceedings and bruised reputations, Collin Finnerty of Garden City and his former Duke University lacrosse teammates Reade Seligmann of Essex Fells, NJ, and David Evans, of Bethesda, MD, can finally move on with their lives. The alleged rape, sexual assault and kidnapping cases against each of them are over and all charges have been dropped, according to North Carolina Attorney General Roy Cooper, as he announced during an April 11 press conference.

Local Rock Band, Post Roman, Wins Big
Garden City-based rock band Post Roman was recently announced as one of the winners of the 2007 MTVU/Fusion Campus Invasion Contest on MTVU.com. The band, along with three other unsigned acts, will be flown out to play the MTVU Campus Invasion Festival at The Backyard in Austin, Texas, April 22. This festival includes headlining acts such as The Shins, The Academy Is..., The Rapture and Shiny Toy Guns.

Jump Start Foundation Visits Mercy Medical Center NICU
The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of Mercy Medical Center welcomed Jump Start Foundation Board Members Matthew Colantonio, Meaghan Murphy, and Brian Wysocki, as Jump Start Foundation delivered a $10,000 check to be used for life-saving equipment in the Level III NICU. The funds donated were proceeds from recent Jump Start Foundation events.

Garden City Recreation Department News
The recreation department's tennis center is pleased to announce the start of registration for its spring program. The spring tennis classes are offered to Garden City residents ages 5-18. All classes will begin the week of Monday, April 30, and run for six weeks. The schedule and fees for this year's youth classes are as follows (all classes are 55 minutes long):
