Congratulations to Mayor-elect Peter Bee and Trustees Robert Rothschild, Thomas Lamberti and Nicholas Episcopia on their election March 20. It is gratifying to note that the affairs of our village will remain in such capable hands. I look forward to continuing working with the board of trustees, and I believe we can achieve a great deal over the next several years.

I would like to thank the residents and employees who donated blood Tuesday, March 20. I am pleased to report that over 20 pints of blood were collected. You can feel proud of your personal involvement in helping those who depend on blood for life-giving support.

Since there is no substitute for human blood, and no way of knowing when it may be needed to save or sustain the life of a family member, a co-worker, a friend or other members of the community, we must be sure that enough blood is available at all times to meet the needs of our area's hospitals and their patients.

Again, thank you and we look forward to your participation in our next blood drive in October 2007.

The Annual Easter Festival and Antique Car Parade, sponsored by the Garden City Chamber of Commerce, is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Easter Sunday, April 8. The parade will step off from Parking Field 9E and will proceed south on Franklin Avenue to Seventh Street, west to Hilton Avenue, north to Stewart Avenue and will terminate in Parking Field 7N opposite Village Hall.
