LIPA was notified at 7:30 a.m. According to its spokesperson, electric circuits went on fire and no injuries were reported. Initially, 400 customers lost power because of the incident. Almost 300 customers were returned within an hour while the remaining 100 were scattered over the course of the next several hours. Three or four separate Franklin Avenue businesses had to take the longest hit, losing business on Feb. 9. They have however, been on generators since Feb. 9 and still were as of press time. Garden City earned the top seed in the four-team tournament with a record of 10-0 for the regular season. After defeating fourth-seeded Great Neck South 14-8, they went on to beat Jericho in a thrilling match. The Garden City team has great depth with 29 fencers.
