If your child participates in sports at the Garden City middle school or high school, the athletic staff urges you to attend a Positive Coaching Alliance - Sports Parents Workshop Wednesday, Nov. 8, from 7 to 9 p.m. in the high school auditorium.

"Whether your son or daughter plays one sport or three or four, this workshop is for you," Athletic Director Nancy Kalafus said. "This workshop explores the three stages of talent development and will help parents share ideas about what they hope their children will gain from participating in sports."

The workshop also will highlight the "double-coaching" training that coaches at Garden City middle school and high school are receiving. The technique is designed to help coaches achieve two interdependent goals: winning and developing the character of their players.

There will be a $5 charge at the door for a parent workbook; checks only, please, made payable to Garden City High School.
