The Village Music Makers big band ... two trackless trains carrying up to 28 happy youngsters on rides up and down Seventh Street ... the traditional moon bounce ... money cube ... caterpillar climb-through ... loads of carnival games ... karaoke ... a street full of sidewalk sales and exhibits ... fabulous food ... plus decorative corn stalks provided by many businesses are all among the features returning for the Garden City Chamber of Commerce's 28th annual Fall Festival Street Fair Saturday, Oct. 28, between 9:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Seventh Street between Franklin and Hilton Avenues.

Adding to the festivities, the Garden City High School Homecoming Day Parade steps off on Seventh Street at 1 p.m, followed by the high school's varsity football game versus Elmont at 2 p.m.

"This renowned community event started up 28 years ago when the chamber and Garden City High School decided to work together to present an event that has come to be referred to as 'community day' in Garden City. Showcased are both chamber member shops and businesses as well as community organizations representing charities, schools and churches," Althea Robinson, chamber executive director, said, noting that informational fliers will be distributed to all village elementary school children, with forms mailed out to chamber members eligible to exhibit.

All forms must be returned to the chamber by Monday, Oct. 23. Bert Donley, chamber "musical MC," will tout out the various activities throughout the event. Space assignments are necessary both for businesses not located on Seventh Street and community organizations as well. They may be determined by calling the chamber at 746-7724, ext. 101, no later than Oct. 23.
