Board Grants Hotel Permission to Convert to Condos
Garden City trustees voted 6 to 1 in favor of granting Garden City Hotel officials permission to convert four floors of their establishment into residential condominiums. Posh Ultra Lounge, a nightclub located inside the hotel that has gotten less than favorable press in recent months because of several physical altercations, must close prior to the issuance of the first certificate of occupancy, according to Garden City Building Superintendent Mike Filippon.

Kevin Ocker, director of Garden City's Recreational/Cultural Affairs, offered good news for the many residents who have been anxiously awaiting the grand opening of the new senior center at the cottages near St. Paul's - the facility will officially open its doors this Thursday, Aug. 24, at 9 a.m.

A junior tennis drill program will be offered at the Garden City High School Monday evenings at 5 p.m. This program is for village residents only ages 12-18. The program is geared to prepare players for the upcoming fall tennis season at the varsity and junior varsity level.
