The next Senior Citizens Day is Monday, Aug. 14, from 10 a.m. to noon. The pool will be open to all Garden City resident senior citizens and will feature music and a special half-price menu from 11 a.m. to noon at the snack bar.
The Garden City Pool's 50th anniversary weekend celebration, which was scheduled for the weekend of July 22-23 was canceled due to inclement weather. The activities that were scheduled for Saturday, July 22, and Sunday, July 23, have been rescheduled for the weekend of Aug. 19-20.
Saturday, August 19
Jugglers, face painting, carnival games, inflatable rides and prizes galore will highlight the day's events. Earn tickets at each game you try and redeem them for toys and prizes. Tickets can be redeemed for prizes in the game room from 6-8 p.m. The ice cream stand will remain open during the carnival. In addition to ice cream, snow cones and cotton candy will be available for purchase.
Sunday, August 20
The Clusters perform poolside while residents enjoy a refreshing dip in one of the pools or just sit back, relax and listen to some of the best songs of the '50s and early '60s.
Both teams are currently 3 and 1 in their respective conferences. Aug. 5 was the last meet for both teams. The championships are being held at Eisenhower Park Saturday, Aug. 12, for Division IV and Sunday, Aug. 13, for Division I.
The pool is preparing to hire end-of-the-season help. Anyone 16 years of age or older who is interested in working from August through Labor Day is invited to stop by the pool office and pick up an employment application. For further information, call the pool office at 483-1714.
