Community Mourns Tragic Loss of Monsignor William Costello
Monsignor William F. Costello, an adored priest who served for more than five decades and was still active at the Church of St. Anne where he lived in Garden City for the past eight years, died July 18 when a repeat drunken driver allegedly struck him in East Hampton while he was taking a stroll near his sister's home. He was 79.

Late Registration for Boy's Fall Soccer Continues
The deadline for registering your son for fall soccer was June 30. Applications needed to be postmarked by June 30 to avoid late fees. Roster spaces are no longer guaranteed, since uniform and equipment must be ordered well in advance of the season.

Summer Recreation Nights
The Garden City Recreation Department is holding summer recreation nights for children entering Grades 8-12 on Tuesday evenings. The Field House will be open from 7:30-10 p.m. to play basketball and volleyball and musical entertainment will be provided. Any child who resides in Garden City is invited to participate. Recreation staff will provide supervision. This program will continue through Tuesday, Aug. 15.
