Clinton Road at the Long Island Rail Road grade crossing will be closed to all vehicular traffic Tuesday, July 18, Wednesday, July 19, and Thursday, July 20, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The MTA Long Island Rail Road has advised the Village of Garden City that it will be reconstructing the deteriorated railroad grade crossing on Clinton Road commencing Tuesday, July 19 and continuing through Thursday, July 20. The work will necessitate the complete closing of Clinton Road in the area of the grade crossing in both directions between the hours of 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.

Detour routes are as follows: northbound traffic - left onto St. James Street South, right on Washington Avenue, right on Stewart Avenue, left on Clinton Road. Southbound traffic - right onto St. James Street North, left on Washington Avenue, left on St. James Street South, right on Clinton Road.

During the week of July 24 through July 28 the approaches to the grade crossing are scheduled to be repaved during the hours of 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. A minimum single lane of traffic will be maintained for both directions.
