Residents are reminded to head out to the polls Tuesday, May 16 to vote on the $85,375,699 2006-07 school budget as well as a proposition to allow the district to purchase the Garden City Middle School fields from the Cathedral of the Incarnation.

The budget-to-budget increase is 5.39 percent while the tax levy is 4.96 percent. The average budget increase on Long Island is 6.49 percent and the average tax levy is 5.83 percent.

The vote will take place between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. in the Garden City High School gym. The deadline for absentee ballots is also Tuesday, May 16. The district clerk must receive all ballots no later than 5 p.m. May 16. Call the district clerk at 478-1040 for information.
