The Garden City Recreation Department's stretch and tone class, taught by Felicia Lovaglio, will continue on Tuesdays and Thursdays according to the following schedule:

The recreation department is again runing its very popular tennis camp and PeeWee camp this summer. Both camps are held at the Community Park tennis facility.
The tennis camp is open to children ages 7-18. The PeeWee tennis camp for 4-6 year olds teaches the fundamentals of tennis in a fun way. The camps will be held each week of the summer beginning Friday, June 26.
Registration will begin shortly for these camps. Please watch this paper for further information and registration news.
There are limited openings available for the women's spring tennis tune up, which is being held this week at the Community Park tennis facility. For further information or to register, visit the recreation office in village hall.
The recreation department will conduct a pre-school camp for girls and boys 3.5-5 years old who reside in Garden City. Children who attend this camp must be 3.5 years by the start of the session. This camp will be held at the St. Paul's Cluett Hall from 10:30 a.m. to noon. The cost of each session will be $75. Arts and crafts, music, nature and stories will fill the one and one half hour class. The sessions are as follows:

Session II July 17-21
Session III July 24-28
Session IV July 31-Aug. 4
Session V Aug. 7-11
A copy of the child's birth certificate must accompany the registration. Please make selections carefully as fees are not returnable. Register by mail only, no walk in registration will be accepted until May 30. The recreation department cannot be held responsible for delays in the mail. The recreation department will again conduct a summer baseball camp for boys and girls that are residents of the Village of Garden City. The camp will be held Monday through Thursday during the weeks of July 17-20 and July 24-28 at Community Park. This instructional program is offered for boys and girls age 6-12 in two-hour sessions for either one week or two weeks. Children who register for this program must be 6 by the start of the session. Sessions are held from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. for children 6-8 years old and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for children 9-12 years old. The camp will focus on individual skill development and the importance of playing together as a team. Youngsters in each age category will be divided into appropriate skill levels and will receive group instruction. The cost of this camp will be $60 for one week.

Roster packages for the recreation department's Men's Over 35 Softball League are now available. This league plays on Sunday evenings. Rosters will be accepted from teams meeting the following eligibility requirements:
Teams must be comprised of residents of the Village of Garden City.
All players must be over 35 years of age or turning 35 during the course of the season.
The fee for this league is $500, which includes games, balls and umpires. Application packages can be picked up at the recreation office in village hall. The completed roster package will be accepted until May 11 or until 12 completed packages are received.
If you reside in Garden City and are age 18 or over, would you like to play softball in one of the recreation department's softball leagues? Call the recreation office at 465-4075 to put your name on the players list. The department sometimes has coaches who call looking for extra players to round out their rosters. Call and leave your name, age, address and phone number and the recreation department will keep your name on file for the team who is looking for extra players.
