Mark Staniszewski, a local police officer and Garden City resident, recently competed in the 2006 USA Judo Nationals. He returned with a national championship title.

Mark Staniszewski, a local police officer and Garden City resident, after years of devotion to the martial arts, including both Judo and Jujitsu, has returned from Houston, TX with a national championship title. The 2006 USA Judo Nationals were held April 20-22 at the Houston Convention Center.

His gold medal was achieved in the Masters 100+KG division (heavyweight), going 4-0, defeating four much larger opponents. He also competed in the open division earning a silver medal.
