The second session of preschool arts and crafts will begin the week of March 7. Registration for this program will be held at Cluett Hall Wednesday, March 1, at 10 a.m. This program is open to any child ages 3 1/2-5 years old who resides in Garden City.

The arts and crafts sessions run one day a week for six weeks. Classes are held on Tuesdays or Wednesdays at 12:15 p.m. All classes are 45 minutes in length. The cost of this program is $30. For further information, call 742-4905.

Yoga is growing in popularity because it relieves stress, creates relaxation and promotes a healthy mind and body. Participants will learn breath work and yoga postures that benefit everyone.

The recreation department is offering yoga for adults who reside in Garden City. The class, taught by certified aerobic instructor Connie McKnight, takes place in St. Paul's Cluett Hall and is held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. This eight-week session, which began Feb. 16, costs $40. All participants are asked to wear comfortable clothing and bring a sticky mat to the first class. For further information or to register, visit the recreation office in village hall.

The recreation department has secured tickets to the following performances of Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey Circus at the Nassau Coliseum:

Thursday, March 16, 7:30 p.m.

Saturday, March 18, 11:00 a.m.

The purchase price of a ticket is $21.50. Tickets are available to any resident of Garden City. Tickets must be purchased in cash; no checks can be accepted. Any family may purchase a maximum of six tickets. To purchase tickets, visit the recreation office in village hall.

Looking for something different to do during February break? Try one or more of our one-hour workshops. Each workshop will be held in St. Paul's Cluett Hall and will give participants a taste of the subject indicated. All classes are open to residents of Garden City. There is a registration fee of $5 for each workshop attended. Class size is limited, so please visit the recreation office in village hall to register.

Thursday

9:30 a.m., Mommy and Me Yoga (ages 2-4 with parent)

10:30 a.m., Yoga Kids Adventure (ages 8-12)

Friday

9:30 a.m., Kids Theatre Adventure (ages 6-10)

10:30 a.m., Yoga Kids Adventure (ages 8-12)

11:30 a.m., Teen Yoga (ages 12-18)

Registration is still ongoing for the recreation department's roller hockey program for the following age groups:

Rookies: ages 5-7 with no experience - the program is so popular that the department has opened another section. This learn-and-play clinic will run from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday afternoons beginning March 12. The cost of this eight-week program is $60.

Juniors: ages 9 to 10 - held Friday afternoons from 5:45 to 7:15 p.m. and beginning March 10. This program is played in an intramural league format. Children are placed on teams, play a six-week intramural schedule and then have a playoff. The cost of this program is $60. There is room for 10 more children in this age group.

Intermediates: ages 11-14 - this program has been moved to Friday evenings at 7:30 p.m. instead of Wednesdays as not to interfere with school. The format of this league is the same as the Juniors above. The cost is $60.

The recreation department's last recreation night will be held for all middle school Grades 6-8, Friday, March 3, from 7 to 9 p.m. in the St. Paul's Field House. Admission is $5 and recreation staff will provide supervision. Please note: Once children enter St. Paul's they will not be allowed to leave without a parent. Parents must enter St. Paul's to pick up their children.
