Our son Robert E. Dempsey Jr. was a current member of the Garden City Police Department. He suddenly passed away Dec.16, 2005 after undergoing orthoscopic knee surgery as the result of injuries that he received from an auto accident in May 2005. Bob Jr. was very proud and honored to be a Garden City police officer, serving under the fine leadership of Police Commissioner Ernest Cipullo and his staff. My wife and I, and our entire family, want to thank the residents and merchants of the village for their sympathy, prayers and generosity that was shown and given to Bob's wife, three young children and entire family during this sudden and tragic loss to our family.
