On Jan. 9, Kathleen Maura Rice was sworn in as the first female district attorney for Nassau County. The Cradle of Aviation in Garden City, filled with dignitaries and many friends, was the setting for this gala event.

Updated Village Facts on St. Paul's In the Works
Residents should be on the lookout for an updated Village Facts on St. Paul's in the near future. Mayor Gerard Lundquist has informed Trustee Robert Rothschild, chairman of the board's Public Information Committee, along with Trustees Donald Brudie and Nick Episcopia, fellow committee members, to begin the process of preparing the latest Village Facts for residents. This latest newsletter will include, according to Mayor Lundquist, a chronology of various information, particularly how much the village has spent to date on consultants, what reports have shown and more.

Garden City Centennial Soccer Club News
Late registrations are now being accepted for the centennial spring Soccer Program. Registration after Jan. 31 will be accepted based on space and availability and is subject to a $25 late fee. The Garden City Centennial Soccer Club will be opening its spring season Saturday, April 8. Girls' games are scheduled for 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Boys play in the afternoons from 1 to 4 p.m. The program runs for eight consecutive Saturdays with the exception of Easter and Memorial Day weekends. The season ends June 10 with Soccerfest. A full schedule can be found at www.gccentennialsoccer.org.
