The Garden City Student Aid and Scholarship Fund is sponsoring an afternoon of great entertainment for children and adults by bringing the popular basketball troupe, "The Harlem Wizards" to town Saturday, Feb. 4 at 1 p.m. in the Garden City High School gymnasium.
The Wizards will display their comedic antics against a team composed of Garden City school district teachers including: from the high school - David Izzo, James Infranca, Carlo Rebolini, Michelle DeCollibus, Amy Regis, Kevin DiBitetto, Mark Quigley, Scott McCauley, Brad Hepworth and Dan Doherty; from the middle school - Erin Schoelle; from Stratford - Amanda Mathers; from Stewart - Crystal Boyd and Jon Leake.
The Wizards will put on a show of fancy ball handling and plays that will dazzle their opponents and the audience alike. When challenged, the Wizards will call on their exceptional basketball skills to outscore their opponents.
The event will also feature refreshments, souvenirs, a half-time show with audience participation and a "50-50" raffle. The doors will be open at noon with the show starting promptly at 1 p.m. Be sure to arrive early to get good seats.
Tickets are available by mail ($10) or at the door ($12). Children 3 years of age and younger will be admitted free.
Tickets are going fast. You can get yours in advance to guarantee seats for yourself, your friends and your family. For tickets by mail, please send in a note with your name, telephone number and number of tickets along with a check payable to: "The Garden City Student Aid and Scholarship Fund." Checks should be mailed to Marian Mancusi, 189 Wetherill Road, Garden City, NY 11530. Tickets for prepaid mail order requests will be available at the pick-up desk at the event.
The Garden City Student Aid and Scholarship Fund is a charitable, nonprofit organization that provides scholarships and loans to Garden City High School Students. All proceeds from this event will be used to increase its program of assisting deserving students in financing their college educations.
