Marilyn F. Jensen (nee Peach), of Garden City, died on Nov. 15, 2005. Wife of the late Harry F. Daughter of the late Loretta and George Peach. Mother of Anita Jensen and Suzanne Eigl (nee Jensen). Grandmother of Amanda, Joseph, Katie and Willie Eigl.

Marilyn passed away with her family and friends by her side at Mercy Hospital after a courageous fight with cancer that was a direct result of smoking, so, no smoking, please! I thank our friends for without them we never could have gotten through this last year. We thank the nurses and doctors who worked tirelessly to make her as comfortable as possible for which her family will always be grateful. I had the great fortune to be with my mom at the end.

Marilyn was a 40-year resident of Garden City having come to live here after previously residing in West Hempstead. She was born in Brooklyn and raised in Richmond Hill, the only child of Loretta and George. She graduated from high school in three years and went on to a long career at AT&T in NYC working for the executive offices of the Engineering Dept. She stayed home to raise her two children after moving to the suburbs with her husband. Marilyn's second career was as a real estate salesperson working for Peter H. Benson and selling homes in and around Garden City. Unfortunately she was widowed very young after which she raised her children as a single mom. She never lost her sense of humor and would delight in making her friends and family laugh and how she loved to talk and talk. She showed us to never give up no matter how hard things get and to try to be a leader not a follower. As her third and final career, she enjoyed 16 years working at the front desk (secretary/receptionist) for the Garden City Country Club.

Marilyn enjoyed spending time with her four beautiful grandchildren and they kept her young at heart. She taught her two daughters to love life and appreciate each day for what is and that God hears all prayers, but that we may not always get the answer we think we will get. I know my mom will continue to watch over her family from heaven and to quote one of her favorite movies, It's a Wonderful Life.

The family was cared for by the Thomas F. Dalton Funeral Home, Floral Park. Catholic Mass at St. Joseph's Church. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, Brooklyn.
