Each year the Incorporated Village of Garden City invests substantial amounts of money to upgrade and maintain our streetscapes and parking fields within our business districts to make them safe, attractive and welcoming to those who shop there. It is always gratifying to see business owners who participate in this process by improving signs, facades or the rear entrances to their places of business. I want to compliment the owners of Things & Stuff, Leo's, Starbucks and Garden City Pizza for the outstanding job that they did with the installation of patterned concrete at the parking field entrance to their stores. I also encourage others to follow.
Please take a few minutes to enjoy the beautiful chrysanthemum display that has been planted at each gateway to the village as well as on the Village Green and on public properties within our business districts. Mr. Abbate and Mr. Barnych of our parks division of the department of public works have done another magnificent job.
Compliments and special thanks are due to the fire department for their efforts in making Fire Prevention Day/Week the success that it was. Chief Moran and our fire department do an outstanding job protecting our lives and homes and most importantly educating each of us on fire safety/prevention. It was good to see such a turnout of residents for the programs that they conducted throughout the day.
