The Garden City seventh-grade Checkmate Sharks will be holding tryouts for their 2006 Sharks lacrosse team Saturday, Oct. 8, at 4 p.m. at the Waldorf School in Garden City. The 2006 Sharks spring season will complement the Garden City Middle School lacrosse program and all practices and games will not conflict with the middle school lacrosse program. All spring season games will be played on Sundays at the US Merchant Marine Academy.

Your commitment to the Sharks will also include three Long Island lacrosse tournaments in July. Tryouts are open to all former Sharks players as well as any seventh-grade student currently attending school in Garden City. Application forms can be downloaded at www.gcsharks.com. In order to tryout, application forms must be filled out and faxed to Bob Jahelka at 541-1430 by Friday, Sept. 30.
