Levinson: Patronage, Family Jobs Too High in Hempstead Town
County Assessor Harvey Levinson, candidate for Hempstead Town supervisor, recently blasted current Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray for spending millions of dollars annually to support patronage jobs in Hempstead Town, noting that the supervisor employs 323 Republican committeemen on the Town's payroll at an average salary of more than $75,000.

Cradle of Aviation Hosts Vanderbilt Cup Race Exhibit
To celebrate the centennial of the famed Vanderbilt Cup Races, the Cradle of Aviation museum is hosting a special exhibit featuring a collection of antique race cars and special items on loan from the Suffolk County Vanderbilt Museum now through Sept. 18 and will culminate with a weekend celebration of the cup race this Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 17-18. The weekend will feature Time Trials, AutoCross, Karting and a vintage car parade on the 1905 Vanderbilt Cup Course.

Centennial Soccer News
The Garden City Centennial Soccer Club opened its fall season Sept. 10. Games are played from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Paul's. The program runs for eight consecutive Saturdays, with the exception of Columbus Day weekend and ends Saturday, Nov. 5. A full schedule can be found at www.gccentennialsoccer.org.

Garden City Recreation Department News
The Garden City Recreation Department is pleased to announce it is now opening registration for the Dance Conservatory Program. All classes begin the week of Sept. 26. A child must be 4 years of age to begin classes with the exception of Creative Movement. A child must be preschool age for Creative Movement, must be toilet trained and must be able to stay alone in a supervised setting.
