The recreation department's adult stretch class, taught by Felicia Lovaglio, has begun. The hour-long stretch class incorporates basic moves and stretches to relaxing movements. The program is designed to promote flexibility in a relaxed setting. Those interested can register for either Tuesdays or Fridays, or choose both for a maximum workout. The schedule has been changed to accommodate those parents who are dropping off at Summer Enrichment and will be as follows:
Tuesdays 9:20 a.m. now-August 16 $48
Fridays 9:20 a.m. now-August 19 $48
For further information or to register for the class, visit the recreation office at village hall. The recreation department will sponsor a series of concerts at the Garden City Gazebo on the following dates:
Thursday, July 28 Paula Atherton and Interplay
Thursday, Aug. 4 Village Musicmakers
Thursday, Aug. 11 The Clusters
Thursday, Aug. 18 Linda Ipenema and the Dixie Cats
All concerts begin at 7:15 p.m. In the event of rain, the concert will be moved indoors to Cluett Hall at St. Paul's. The recreation department's summer chess club began meeting Tuesday, July 12 in the small meeting room at the Garden City Library. The club runs each Tuesday between 4-6 p.m. through Aug. 16. Paul Dooher again moderates this program, which is open to third through seventh graders. No registration is needed. The recreation department will be conducting a preschool camp for girls and boys 3.5-5 years old who reside in the village. Children who attend this camp must be 3.5 years by the start of the session they choose. This camp will be held at Cluett Hall at St. Paul's from 10:30 a.m. to noon. The cost of each one-week session is $75. Arts and crafts, music, nature and stories will fill the one and one half-hour class. The sessions are as follow:
Session IV Aug. 1-5
Session V Aug. 8-15
Children must be 3.5 years old by the start of the class. A copy of the child's birth certificate must accompany the registration. To register by mail - walk-in registrations are also now accepted - pick up an application at the recreation office in village hall or at St. Paul's. Residents can also make their own by listing their child's name, address, phone number, birth date, grade he/she will be entering in September and the camp he/she is registering for. Mail all information with payment to the recreation department at 351 Stewart Avenue. Please make checks payable to the Inc. Village of Garden City. The recreation department cannot be held responsible for delays in the mail. The Garden City Recreation Department is conducting evening tennis lessons for adults who reside in the village. The lessons are held at the Garden City Community Park tennis facility and run in three- and four-week sessions. There is a maximum of four players on a court. The dates, times and fee are as follows:

Weekend times are available upon request. The department will also offer the popular Ultimate Workout Program for adults Tuesday evenings from 7-8:30 p.m. on the following dates:

Session 1 (remaining) meeting date was July 5

Session 2 (remaining) meeting dates are Aug. 2, 9

The cost of each session of Ultimate Workout is $100. Applications for these programs can be picked up at the recreation department or at the Tennis Hut at Community Park.
