USRowing has selected Michael Rossidis, a Garden City resident and a 2005 graduate of Chaminade High School, to the 2005 Junior National Team, Junior Men's National Team Coach Martin Crotty announced. Rossidis was one of 40 oarsmen in the country selected to attend the Junior National Selection Camp in Princeton, NJ.
USRowing is a non-profit organization recognized by the United States Olympic Committee as the governing body for the sport of rowing in the United States. He will compete in the 2005 FISA World Rowing Junior Championships Aug. 3-6 in Brandenburg upon Havel, Germany. A total of 14 athletes will make up the men's four with coxswain and the men's eight that will compete. Rossidis is the only New Yorker named to the Junior National Team.
Rossidis was an integral part of the Chaminade Varsity Crew Team led by Coaches Callinan, Moebius and Muri for the past four years. Their enthusiasm and expertise helped Rossidis achieve his maximum potential. Hard work, perseverance and great ability have contributed to his success. He has caught the attention of elite rowing programs and prestigious colleges across the country. Rossidis will be entering Cornell University as a freshman this fall as well as being a part of Cornell's rowing team.
