Adelphi University Mourns Loss of Dean Emerita Ruth S. Harley
Ruth S. Harley ('24, '50 (Hon.), matriarch of the Adelphi community for more than 85 years, passed away July 4 at the age of 103. At this difficult time, the university reflects on the leadership, kindness and devotion to other people that made this woman so unique.

MTA/LIRR Renewing Nassau Boulevard Grade Crossing
The Metropolitan Transit Authority/Long Island Rail Road (MTA/LIRR) will be rehabilitating the Nassau Boulevard grade crossing during the weekends of July 16 and July 23. The work will require the 24-hour closure of Nassau Boulevard between 8 a.m. Saturday through 8 a.m. Sunday on both weekends. During prep work, Nassau Boulevard was also closed Saturday, July 9, for eight hours - 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Garden City Stand-out Plays in Vytra Grand Slam All-Star Game
Thomas Marino, a centerfielder for Garden City High School, went one-for-three, scored one run and drove in two in Nassau County's ultimate 15-16 loss to Suffolk in the recent Vytra Grand Slam Challenge, which featured an offensive display of 34 hits between the teams.

Recreation Department News
The recreation department's summer playground program has begun in all the parks. All resident school-aged children are invited to come to their neighborhood park and join in organized games and activities. Tullamore, Nassau Haven, Edgemere, Grove and Hemlock parks each have a staff of enthusiastic young people arranging activities like softball, dodge ball, flag football and tournaments. The arts and crafts staff will offer a project each morning at 10 a.m. (Monday through Friday). All of these activities are free. For further information, visit your neighborhood park.
