The fourth-grade Lady Rams led by Coaches Shannon, Jahelka and Coleman mounted a furious comeback to defeat a home standing Northport squad this past Sunday.
The Lady Rams scored five unanswered goals to overcome a 7-3 third quarter deficit and notched an 8-7 victory on Haley Shannon's game winning goal with three minutes to play. The goal was Shannon's third of the contest and gave the Lady Rams their only lead of the afternoon. Other goal scorers included Carly Knowles (two goals), Mary Glenn, Jacqueline Jahelka and Addie Zebrowski. Strong passing and assists were recorded by Courtney Stoddart, Lauren Coleman and Louisa Boliva.
The Lady Rams received tremendous goaltending from MJ Kessnich (five first quarter saves) and Olivia Zimmer who recorded four of 12 saves in the final five minutes of the game. The goalies got strong defensive support from Samantha Pflume and Anne Pasquale, as the Lady Rams held Northport scoreless in the final quarter.
The Lady Rams received strong midfield play from Meredith Johnson, Marie Cristoforo and Carolyn Pasquale, as they battled with Northport for control of the all- important ground ball play.
The victory saw the Lady Rams improve their record for the season to 4-1 and look forward to the return of teammates Krista Dampman, Emily Scott, Kellie Kubler, Emily Betts, Catherine McDougal and Caleigh McGoldrick as they host Manhasset at St. Pauls.
